It is said that a photograph says a thousand words. I am renewing my resolve to take one photo per day for an approximate total of 365,000 unspoken words.

Flipper

Twenty

Today was glorious.  Lovely, hot weather.  "A 3-hour tour" dolphin and whale watching deep-sea cruise out of Wildwood.  White House subs.  More seaglass hunting at Sunset Beach (pictured).  Nino's Italian delights.  Ice cream.  Sun-kissed marvelousness.

Summer reading

Nineteen

My book club is reading Prodigal Summer for our next book.  While I'm not over the moon about the text, I had the pleasure of reading it today with this view of the Atlantic.  I'll take it.

Zaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!

Eighteen

Today. Scott got to experience New Jersey at some of its finest.  My Wisco-guy ordered (on his own) at the White House Sub Shop, found himself some deals at the Tanger Outlets in AC, and had his first-ever Mack & Manco pizza.  He was on cloud 9.  I have to say, damn, that pizza is out-of-this-world.  Yum!

Oy, sir, it's an oyster!

Seventeen

Today was beach-tastic!  We went to Higbee Beach in Cape May in the morning and sought out sea glass and shells.  We found quite a few treasures.  We then hit Stone Harbor beach again with our umbrella, cooler and chairs, and stayed as late as we could.  We ended the day by spending a lovely few hours with my dear friends, Kate and Billy Hawkes in Atlantic City.  Another great weather day and good-for-the-soul day with old friends.

She sells sea shells

Sixteen

Today was our first beach day.  Scott was a happy, happy camper.  Weather was perfect for the beach.  Low humidity, nice breeze, not too hot.  A certain someone was a bit red after laying out in the 5-8PM sunshine with no sunscreen, but he was happy nonetheless.  Lebanon bologna sandwiches for dinner.  Bliss.

Brotherly Love

 Fifteen

Today was epic.  Scott and I landed in the Garden State to commence his first ever NJ experience.  We hit Independence Hall, the Liberty Bell, Pat's/Geno's, The Contintental, & The Arden Theatre all in one day.  Next stop: the REAL Jersey Shore.

Adieu, mes parents

Thirteen

Mom and Dad left me to fly off into this sunset to California tonight.  We had such a lovely, relaxed, and f un time that it was even harder to see them go than it usually is.  I captured this view from the bridge connecting the terminal to the parking lot. The sky looks so hopeful tonight.  I'm looking forward to seeing M&D in New Jersey next week, though.

Lichen striatus

Twelve

This photo is from yesterday, in Chicago.  I felt it was more important than anything I encountered today (I went to the dermatologist today--excitement), so I'm sharing it as today's photo.  #IStandWithTheLGBTQIACommunity

Windy City: Day 3

Eleven

The stunningly beautiful (with)drawing room done up in the style of the Golden Age at the Driehaus Museum in Chicago.  This, followed by dinner at Rosebud on Rush with Mom and Dad, rounded out our Chicago adventure.

The Windy City: Day 2

Ten

After I waded in the spitting water fountain/wading pool in Millennium Park, M&D and I spent the day in the Chicago Institute of Art.  Toured the Modern Wing and then made our way through many, many other galleries.  Mom's first visit here, and we all agree we could have spent days and days here.

The Winnnnndy (& hot) City: Day 1

Nine

Fathers' Day blessing for Dad at Holy Name Cathedral in Chicago.  Staying at the Raffaello Boutique Hotel which is too darn cool.  Took a break from the heat by popping into an Argo Tea Cafe for a Mate Latte.  Yum!  Lou Malnotti's (which Mom calls "Loumanati's" like Kyle does) for dinner.  Happy Fathers' Day to my sweet daddy and all fathers out there.

Arthur Miller

Eight

Had the opportunity to show my parents a new perspective of Wisconsin today.  Woke up from our overnight at Sheer Memories B and B in Muscoda, joined by Scott, picnicked at Frank Lloyd Wright's Talesin welcome center, and enjoyed the mildly hot night at APT for Death of a Salesman.  Lovely all around.

From Act 1
WILLY: How can he find himself on a farm? Is that a life? A farmhand? In the beginning, when he was young, I thought, well, a young man, it’s good for him to tramp around, take a lot of different jobs. But it’s more than ten years now and he has yet to make thirty-five dollars a week!
LINDA: He’s finding himself, Willy.
WILLY: Not finding yourself at the age of thirty-four is a disgrace!

Oscar Wilde

On our way to Spring Green to see An Ideal Husband at American Players' Theatre, we stopped at Norske Nook in De Forest, per Troy's suggestion.  Yummy Scandinavian food and good pies.

Had the pleasure of showing these two cuties around UW-Parkside today and then enjoy late dinner at the Buckhorn Supper Club.

My dear friend Roger retired a week ago today.  Thrilled to have had the chance to celebrate his legacy.  Cheers to you, Mr. Kutz.

Dancing Queen

Four

This photo was texted to me today from a proud Aunt Leigh Leigh.  It's unreal that this little lady is 5 already.  Where did the time go?  The most amazing thing is, this child is as beautiful on the inside as she is on the outside.  She is such a good, kind, patient, sweet, loving person.  I adore her.  She reminds me to #DanceLikeNoOneIsWatching.

In memory of yesterday's sad events.  Heartbroken for the victims, their families, our nation and all of its citizens.

Festge Park

Two
Trip home from the wedding pit-stop at Festge Park.  It was a pleasant surprise to learn this much about the namesake of this lovely (new to us) place.

365,000 words take two

One

Despite the unseasonable, insane, relentless heat today, we found room for lots of fun, love, laughter and memory-making.
