It is said that a photograph says a thousand words. I am renewing my resolve to take one photo per day for an approximate total of 365,000 unspoken words.

Work it!

Fifty-one
This guy works SO hard.  He does so much more than put in his due from 8-4:30.  He often works late nights and weekends for the benefit of his staff, his department, and his students.  In my view, he's an unsung hero.

Black Lives Matter

Fifty
I had the great pleasure of hosting a Black Lives Matter conversation today.  It was very powerful and empowering.  There's still much to be done, but it was a positive start and conversation opener.  In the evening, Scott and I went to Country Fest's pork dinner at my church and then Atwood Fest to enjoy some live music.  It was an all-star day.

A rocky bird-day

Forty-nine
Today was a special little lady's special birthday.  I pulled over to attempt to connect with her over FaceTime (to no avail), and this rural majesty was out my window.  When I finally did connect with KammyBird, she was NOT about to have me sing to her when I asked if I could sing her a special song.  "Can we just TALK?!" was her retort.  On another note, went to see the latest Bourne movie tonight and it was TERRIBLE!

Today was a big milestone for my Pokemon trainer and me!  It was the first time that I became the owner and reigning champion of a PokeGym!  Whoot!  Getting ready for the #ParksideGo Pokeomon event I've been planning for Aug. 1!

Pokezebos

Forty-six
Scott and I hit the Whitewater Farmers' Market today in downtown Whitewater, and we also stopped at the waterfront to catch some Pokemon.  It was a lovely day, much less humid than the top of the week... for which we were mighty thankful.

It can be tough on a relationship to live an hour away from each other.  Facetime helps.  Said goodnight over FT tonight.  #iLovemyiPhone

If I had a Boat

Forty-two
Kyle and I had the great, great pleasure to see Lyle Lovett and his Large Band perform tonight.  It was wonderful more than words can do justice.  It was fun, funny, poignant and I even teared up.  I was proud to be there with my brother listening to this man and his incredible band sound JUST like the records we grew up listening to.  I will likely never forget tonight.

Crazy wine

Thirty-seven

There are reminders of my amazing brother, Kyle, everywhere.  Love that.  This passage from our book club book, Prodigal Summer describing the "nutty-scented clearing" made me crack a smile remembering his blind wine tasting story from Stanford.  #ProudSister #LittleBigSisterMoment

Love vs. evoL

Last night, WUWM hosted a community conversation to discuss the recent events happening in our country and around Milwaukee.  It was an open, collaborative conversation that inspired me.  #BlackLivesMatter

Gotta catch 'em all

Thirty-two

This crazy game, Pokemon Go, has taken the world by storm.  We've decided to use it in our office, so I have downloaded it and played it some yesterday and today.  I found this little guy by my car tonight after work.  Ha!

Make a difference

Thirty-one

A co-worker made these lovely "The Old Man and the Starfish" mementos for everyone in our office.  I have it hanging next to my desk, and I see it every day.  Finding this message especially powerful while faced with the challenges of racial disparity plaguing our nation.  It's a powerful message, and I hope it will sustain folks who feel the need to DO something, like me.

Boys have cooties

Scott and his dad, Dave, went to watch the Brewers play today.  That means I got some quality time with Jane.  We had some wonderful girl talk.  I love this special lady.

Fore!

Scott's parents are visiting this weekend.  We went mini-golfing which was a hoot!  Snagged this beauty from the car on the ride home.  Grilled out and watched The Big Short.

#BlackLivesMatter

Twenty-eight

This week has been hard for me.  Two senseless, needless murders of black men by police officers.  I can't change the world, but I can do something.  I went on Facebook live for the first time and talked about it.  I'm going to do what I can to make the world better for black Americans.

Happy Bday Murica

Twenty-four

Yeah yeah yeah, I know our country was born today, but I FINALLY bested this level after 6+ months of trying to!  Talk about freedom!  I finally have my life back!  :)  Scott and I went to the Whitewater 4th Parade, which is always a hoot.  After this accomplishment, I unpacked and did wash and got ready to go back to work.

Breaking the fast

Twenty-three

You may not know it, but I do.  THIS GUY is the best.  He's my dad.  He came to AC to meet us and drop us at the airport (& take back his car that he lent us for the week).  Enjoyed some fantastic brunch with him at Shea's CafĂ© before we parted ways.  Love love love.

#Twinning

Twenty-two

My dear friend, Jen, has longed for children for years.  Welcome one half of her new additions, Mr. G.  Despite being quite the diva, Miss M was not up for the paparazzi's photo shoot.  Even though they've only been here a month (today), I adore these two, and I'm thrilled that we get to watch them grow up under the TLC of their amazing mother.

Watermelon in the pool

Twenty-one

This cheeky monkey is always on the move, and so was this photo!  My wonderful parents were gracious enough to host a family gathering for Scott and me today.  Aunt Kathy offered up her abode, and we swam, and ate, and talked and laughed.  Scott has been officially indoctrinated into the White side of the family.  :) Picked up ella from her vacation club, and got to spend some quality time with her.  Also checked out some house updates that Aunt Karen has done.  Grateful for my family.
